May Day Event to Provide Essential Services to Homeless Population in Las Vegas

April 19, 2024

Vegas Stronger, a local nonprofit working to end homelessness by addressing the root causes of addiction and mental health, and Molina Healthcare are hosting a "May Day” event to provide essential hygiene services to those experiencing homelessness in the valley. The event will take place on Wednesday, May 1 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 916 N. Main Street.

Resources available to the community will include mobile showers from Clean the World, haircuts from Certified Barbershop, hygiene packages, and new undergarments for men and women. The event is meant to ensure individuals get basic personal supplies that they may not otherwise have access to. Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn about mental health services, employment resources, housing assistance, Medicaid benefits, and other supportive resources offered by Vegas Stronger and other community partners. Food and beverages will also be provided for the event thanks to Siegel Cares, Pink Box, and Sysco.

“Molina continues to prove itself as a caring partner, working to ensure that our most vulnerable populations have access to healthcare and mental health services,” said David Marlon, co-founder and CEO of Vegas Stronger. “We’re looking forward to collaborating with them on this event and continuing a very important partnership to help the Las Vegas community.”

“Molina Healthcare of Nevada supports the crucial behavioral healthcare programs and services Vegas Stronger offers in Clark County,” said Kim Gahagan, associate vice president of growth and community engagement. “We want to fill a gap for those in treatment that is not readily available in the community. Providing essential items to those in recovery and helping them rebuild their lives is about more than just donating critical resources; it’s about reminding them of the support they have as they forge ahead on the journey to self-sufficiency.”

This event is open to the public and those who are experiencing homelessness are encouraged to attend. If anyone is in need of these services, they will not be turned away. For more information about the "May Day” event, please contact Vegas Stronger at 702-202-6647 or [email protected].

*Supplies will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
