Many individuals, whether they're experiencing homelessness or not, have lost their social security card. This can become an issue when you are trying to receive support from different organizations or when you're trying to get a job.

The social security government website has made it easy to order and obtain a replacement social security card. It will guide any person through the process online in every way and possible circumstance.

Request a replacement card online
Depending on your situation, you may be able to apply for a replacement card online. Answer a few questions about yourself, and they'll show you the best way to make your request.


Visit a local office
Fill out the Application for a Social Security Card (Form SS-5) (PDF) and bring it to your local office along with unexpired identification. Documents must be original or have a signature, stamp, or raised seal from the issuing agency. We don't accept photocopies.
