Vegas Stronger™ Named Nevada Recovery Friendly Workplace

June 26, 2023

The initiative trains and certifies Nevada staff and businesses to provide recovery-friendly environments.

Las Vegas, Nevada, June 08, 2023 – Vegas Stronger™, the nonprofit working to end homelessness in Nevada by treating substance use and mental illness, was awarded a Certificate of Recognition as a Nevada Recovery Friendly Workplace. The initiative is led by the Foundation for Recovery in partnership with the State of Nevada, training businesses to provide recovery-friendly environments to staff.

“I am very excited that the State of Nevada has taken action to support recovery-friendly environments for the community,” said Dave Marlon, CEO & Founder of Vegas Stronger™. “One part of inclusivity is making sure that employees and clients feel supported in their recovery. As the leaders in accessible substance use treatment, we support recovery friendly businesses. Treatment works, we do recover, and we hope that others join us in this movement.”

The Recovery Friendly Workplace (RFW) Initiative empowers employers to implement recovery friendly practices within the workplace and provide support for employees in recovery or those impacted by substance use disorder (SUD). The purpose of the RFW Initiative is to promote individual wellness by creating work environments that further the mental and physical well-being of employees; proactively preventing substance misuse and supporting recovery from addiction in the workplace and the community.

"Foundation for Recovery is grateful to Vegas Stronger™ for joining the Nevada Recovery Friendly Workplace Initiative (NV RFWI),” said Ron Schnese, Peer Recovery Support Specialist at Foundation for Recovery. “The NV RFWI provides employers with the tools and resources necessary to help an employee, or their family, who may be experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge. The goal of ending stigma and increasing employee retention, while maintaining a supportive and caring work environment is important to us. It really is a community effort, and we are proud that Vegas Stronger™ has taken steps to join this movement."
